About

Berline.rs is the website of the Berlin Rust Community. We currently run the following meetups:

We are an inclusive group and would love you to attend!

The group uses the Berlin Code of Conduct. On top of that, we ensure that our meetups are accessible to the extent possible.

Rust Hack & Learn

The bi-weekly Rust Hack & Learn is our international online meetup, in which we discuss and code Rust together and learn along the way. From just attending to have your two hours of focus time with Rust, to having a deep conversation with someone about a topic that nags you โ€“ everything is possible.

The meetup editions generally follow a predefined structure, with lots of room to diverge and follow participantsโ€™ interests:

  1. After an introduction round, Rust-related links and articles from the recent two weeks are shared and discussed.
In this segment, more often than not, a few notable newly merged PRs from the rust-lang/rust repository are presented as well, and contextualized by an experienced Rust maintainer.
  2. For periods at a time, a prepared, beginner-friendly topic is brought in focus next, to ensure participants of all levels have equal opportunity to learn and grow.
  3. In the next segment, several participants show what they have built โ€“ or outline where they have gotten stuck and ask questions to receive help from the group.
  4. Many regulars stick around for a few more hours after the official end of the meetup, informally diving into various open discussions and rabbit holes, often deep into the night.

This is our longest running format. Initially started as a Berlin-local in-person event, it went online in 2020 and has since then attracted regular attendees from several continents.

Rust Hack & Learn takes place online every second Thursday at 19:00 Berlin time.

The virtual events take place in English language and are not recorded. You can find the announcements on our main page.

Rust Berlin on location ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ

After the previously Berlin-local, in-person Rust Hack & Learn meetup had changed to an online gathering, a new, informal in-person Rust meetup group was founded โ€“ led by the desire to bring back physical community events with a focus on social community experience, exchange of knowledge, ideas and perspectives, and the joy of spontaneity.

We are an interactive meetup format interested in mob coding, deep diving and problem solving together. We build toy projects, share experiences, discuss technology and learn new cool stuff.

And you are welcome to join!

No matter if you are writing Rust production code every day, if you already contribute to Open Source projects or want to start doing so, if you use Rust in hobby projects or if you are just curious what the hype and buzz is all about, you are very welcome!

To coordinate and plan activities, please join our Zulip chat!

Editions of Rust Berlin on location ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ take place in Berlin every fourth Thursday at 19:00.

The meetup language is English. Editions are not recorded or streamed. You can find the announcements on our main page.

Rust Berlin Talks

The classic presentation meetup format. Rust Berlin Talks invites 2โ€“3 speakers to give talks roughly 20โ€“30 minutes in length.

After that, thereโ€™s open time for discussion and connecting.

Rust Berlin Talks is organized once a month, when speakers are available.

If you would like to present at one of the upcoming Rust Berlin Talks meetup editions, please sign up at our Zulip chat and propose your talk in the #meetup: talks channel.

Your own?

If you have an idea for a format and would like us to promote it, please let us know! Weโ€™d be happy to promote your event!
